Diskwiss, since you can make posts appear and disappear at will, can you make our snow disappear?
Diskwiss, since you can make posts appear and disappear at will, can you make our snow disappear?
It has snowed too much! Its still snowing. It was supposed to be warm today and tomorrow but the sky changed its mind! The top of our chimney was damaged in a storm two nights ago and I don't think the guy can go up there if there's snow on the roof. And I'm cut off from my hiking trails a lot earlier than usual. …
I can't drink anything hot. So to have something to do other than sigh while waiting for my hot chocolate to cool, I make little kebabs for dunking by skewering mini marshmallows onto Pocky sticks. And they look really snazzy arranged on a saucer! They're the second cleverest thing I've ever come up with after…
He really was born to be Toad! And Peter Sallis will always be Ratty. The whole riverbank world is so perfectly realised in that series. The little waistcoats and tiny furniture. Its enjoyable just watching Mole tidy his house or Rat preparing jelly on toast!
My favourite of the sparks is Toad's delusional description of himself after he has driven off in a stolen car: "… Toad the terror, the traffic-queller, the Lord of the lone trail, before whom all must give way or be smitten into nothingness and everlasting night." And in the very next paragraph he is cowering before…
You make the story sound so violent! I guess there is a bit of adventure in it, with Mr. Toad's escapades and the battle for Toad Hall. I read those parts of the story as necessary disruptions to give our animal friends things to reminisce about from a safe distance before cozy fires on long winter evenings. Also,…
Diskwiss, all I hear in here is the rustling of stolen posts in the breeze from your oily ceiling fan.
I wake up several times every night but I usually fall asleep again right away unless I start thinking about something. I know what that is like when some worrying thing pops into your head at night, how hard it is to shake it out again!
The Wind in the Willows is perfect at Christmas for bedtime reading. Read a chapter a night starting a few nights before Christmas so that the fifth chapter arrives on Christmas Eve. Its the chapter where the field-mice come caroling at Mole End.
Merry Christmas, Cuddle!
Diskwiss, why can't you be an adorable muppet instead of whatever it is you are?
Why do you think you are waking up so often if its not EB snoring? Do you think your dreams are waking you up? Like maybe the dreams you don't remember are actually bad dreams. Maybe there is something deep inside that you are working through in your sleep.
Diskwiss, why is the internet filled with empty soda bottles? You're supposed to put those in the recycle bin.
I'm glad you are home instead of at school but I'm sorry you have a cold. I wish you didn't catch so many colds. I think you have been doing too much again and are wearing yourself out.
I couldn't remember whether she was actually hypnotized in the Langella movie or if it was more a hypnotism of mutual attraction. They did seem pretty content together in the coffin, didn't they? I guess sometimes I remember movies the way I want them to be! One thing is certain though - I have yet to see a Dracula…
It definitely is that. Although fortunately Mina does get to participate somewhat in the hunt. But I found the treatment of Lucy to be horrifying. By Stoker, that is. That part of the story was difficult to read because of how exploitative it was. Lucy was just there to suffer demurely and give the boneheaded…
I really liked the Langella Dracula. More romance, less ghoulishness. Mina isn't just a plot device, if I remember correctly she chooses to leave with the Count and is "rescued" against her will.
That sounds amazing! I will see if its at our library. I'm guessing Tim Curry is Dracula? The BBC dramatisation of Lord of the Rings is for me much more enjoyable than the book.
Diskwiss, these posts are too cold to eat right away, so let them thaw first.
I'm glad to know you are okay, Claudia! Getting up early when its cold is the worst. I don't like getting up EVER but when the house is cold I find myself hiding under the covers SCHEMING how I can somehow instead stay in bed forever. But then of course I have to sigh and get up and start the day. I am glad though…
