I agree... He takes things to more of an extreme than most people will either want to or be able to. It really does depend on individual goals and plans. Personally I would like to be able to retire as soon as possible and then work on things I want to work on. So not retirement in the classic sense, mostly just

Have you heard of Mr. Money Mustache? I just stumbled across his blog and have been enjoying it thus far. I’m planning on rearranging my finances so that I can save half or more of my net income as well, with the goal of retiring earlier than normal.

True. Before I got everything under control, it was very helpful to see WHERE the money was actually going. Like, “No shit. I’m spending way too much on dry cleaning.” Mint.com was very helpful in this regard.

Just remember that you are giving up your benefits from the VISA, MC, AMEX networks. I've received numerous reimbursements on electronic repairs from AMEX after the OEM warranty expired, but I was still covered by my AMEX warranty services. Especially useful on iPhone batteries.

Chip's gonna be pissed when he finds out Byron Maxwell isn't actually this guy.

How to handle repeated failure. How to be content with doing "alright", not "outstanding" in life. How to be gentle with myself.

Everyone just looks for a handout now instead of getting a damn job. Thanks Obearma.

I don't know, I think it depends on the situation.

Right? I thought that first one was a joke. Being there during someone's hard times will make them, not unreasonably, think you're someone they should come to during troubled times— ie, it'll make them more needy. I'm pretty sure if you pretend to care about someone's difficult life moments in the hopes that it'll

You'd be surprised what deals people in the credit/collections industry are willing to strike. I've gotten a couple derogatory marks removed by asking nicely and pleading my case.

Help others to grow as well, Show them the ropes, mentor and energize others to be "active learners" although challenging but could produce better results, keeps you motivated and challenged and then generate better ideas by others (hope I am not off the topic). I think its professional responsibility of the top

You can still bounce ideas off of the others, though. Sometimes, it helps to get the perspective of someone that is - for lack of a better phrase - clouded by experience. You can get "Why don't we do [XXX]?" and you think "Well, we can't because we normally...waitaminute: Why don't we do [XXX}?"

What I've done in this situation is ask, "what skill does this group lack?" Be honest with the answer, or just ask other departments that interact with yours how your section could improve.

The right answer is zero. These peasants need to be put in their place, amiright?

I have to agree. There are many at my employer that still haven't set their 401k up (employer matches 4%). They've been here 2, 3, some of them longer and still "haven't got around to it". I fuss at them every time the topic comes up. Drives me bonkers!

It's not just a bonus, up to the matching limit, it's an instant 100% ROI.

THIS WILL NOT CATCH PEOPLE SPYING... Please don't share tools that give people a false sense of security.

Oh, let me translate your comment:
"I'm uncomfortable with these ideas, so I'll call myself 'normal' and you 'weird' for being different than me!"
TheEducationalGeek was relating a story that is on topic.

Hopefully this would go without saying, but be mindful of whether or not your ISP blocks inbound port 80 as this might make your blog hard to get to if you host it at home.
