I’m sure I’ll get used to some of the changes, but there are a few things that are far and away not “this is new” problems:

For the longest time, I couldn’t figure out why sometimes my paper towels would tear more easily even though I always buy the same ones.

You might be surprised at the number of candidates who shoot themselves in the foot pretty early in the interview. Alternately, when you line up a bunch of candidates, sometimes you get a great match and the rest you’re just screening to make sure they’re not even better.

I found Quito to be much the same way. There were certainly areas that were unsafe, but plenty of just worn out areas that were fine to be in as long as you did what you should do in any city - keep your head up and your eyes open.

On newer versions of Android (starting with something like 4.3), you can disable apps that you don’t want to use. It doesn’t delete them, but it stops them from showing up or starting with the OS.

Yep, I’m right there with you. I make a good living and am generous with her gifts to help where I can. New computer at Christmas, last time she asked for advice on buying some item I just bought her one and had it shipped... but I don’t have enough cash to help her with the major life bills.
