Cars are stupid. The seats have hard metal springs sticking out that poke me, the battery dies every day and has to be jump started, and they smell like old socks.

You should wash items by hand that could get pitted or damaged in the dishwasher, but a good dishwasher is substantially more sanitary than what you can get by washing dishes in the sink.

Dishwashers are significantly more efficient than washing by hand. Why do you assume they're expensive to operate? They have a one-time cost, but other than that, I run my dishwasher about every 5 days. Cheap detergent, no-heat dry, and it's cheaper than doing it by hand because dishwashers take a fraction of the hot

If you allow low resolution to be acceptable, though, I can do amazing things with a DSLR in low light.

These files are generating a massive amount of data, basically every focal plane has to be captured. That means your resolution drops precipitously, or you end up with huge files, and again - which you acknowledge - you are basically fixing a screw-up. When I focus on composition, part of that is the defocused areas

This camera occupies a weird space where the technology is really interesting but after you get done playing with it and showing it off to friends, it's not really useful for much except correcting screw-ups. And it's a lot of money/complexity to correct something you shouldn't be doing (messing up your focal plane).

Dear Google,

The Zeiss is 55mm, not 50mm.

Yawn. Oh yes, please, Facebook... make me download more apps. I'm sincerely interested in having yet another icon to clutter up my phone and another separate app to get updates. It doesn't at all make sense to use the Facebook app as, you know, a central place to access Facebook features and communicate with Facebook

This works, but I generally just make liberal use of the "shut up" buttons (i.e. pressing one of the hard buttons to make the phone stop ringing, or simply declining the call). Also, my phone is only ever on vibrate so if it's in my pocket I can just ignore it altogether.

Floating factories pumping thousands of gallons of crude oil through them along with associated chemicals and waste products for refinement, in international waters that are not tightly regulated, needing to withstand the harsh environment of the open ocean?

"GroupXit simply pulls the group threads your currently in from your native messaging app"

Why do you need to stay with iTunes Home Sharing? Home Sharing is about my least favorite part of my Apple TV - the fact that I have to leave iTunes running on my desktop.

I'd argue that hacking LastPass is a step closer to the unencrypted data than hacking Dropbox. With LastPass, they're actually on the servers who control the process - it's done locally, yes, but the servers are trusted and they could push out updates to the browser extension or other such activities to gain access to

Having to stop your keyboard from autocorrecting real words is a Thing That Shouldn't Happen.

Obviously, money and benefits are the primary reasons to stick with a job. If those are the only reasons, though, you should be madly searching for another job in your free time, but most people don't have the luxury of walking away from their job without something else waiting.

Also... ask. Cajole. Flatter. Whatever. You don't have to be completely shameless about it, but I can't tell you the number of deals I've scored by just talking to people.

I use stars as items that I want to be able to easily call up again in the future - reference items (e.g. one has my wifi network password in it, or when I'm traveling I'll star my itinerary and travel-related emails, to be unstarred when I'm done with the trip). One advantage of this is that I sync all starred emails

If $15,000 can earn 4-8% in an investment portfolio, but the loan only costs you 2%, your money is out-earning what it's costing you in interest.
