Black Monday’s first two seasons were a lot of fun, but the third season was a mess. Things just sort of happened with no connective tissue or cause and effect and it was really disorienting - it felt like the actors were just improvising their way through the episodes (and not in a good way).

My resolution is to not be a scab.

I think there are two issues here.

Yeah, a lot of the streaming shows, even reboots of shows like SATC that originally aired before streaming was a thing, seem to have this problem where the writers’ room doesn’t spend enough time asking “what are we doing here and what motivates our characters?” and instead jumps straight into filming. Like they have

I really want to like this show but it’s just a mess. Like the visual effects are absolute dogshit (not just the chase scene in this episode - some of the desert scenes have also featured very bad, cheap-looking green screen) and three episodes in I still don’t know what this show is about. Why does Boba Fett want to

Yes, it’s definitely a fair reading of my comment to say that I believe no musical older than 10 years should ever be performed or filmed ever again under any circumstances. Clearly that’s my opinion.

1) He’s obviously not dead. This is a superhero TV show and they didn’t show a body. (2) Things were left unresolved so that people would tune in for Echo, a show that Disney probably has to work a little harder to get people to watch since it is not about one of the Avengers. (3) How much of Daredevil remains canon

That seems to be exactly what they’re doing, though, and I really don’t see a problem with it or think that it’s that hard to understand. Sorry that the Hawkeye TV show didn’t give you a completed checklist of answers about characters who are not Hawkeye or Hawkeye-adjacent, I guess you’ll have to watch future MCU

This is a pretty reasonable list, even if I would change some of the ordering of it. I will say though that I hatedIt’s a Sin.” As is unfortunately common with historical dramas about gay rights and the AIDS epidemic, too many of the performances felt like the actors were imagining their award acceptance speeches in

I don’t understand the semi-panic about West Side Story’s box office failure. It’s a remake of a musical that’s more than 60 years old and, although the musical itself is very good, the core story has been done to death. This was a vanity project for Steven Spielberg that even in the absence of a pandemic would not

Why does he owe the public an enumeration of the specific shitty things he did during his relapse, and why would he have to apologize to anyone other than the people in his life who he hurt? I get why people are interested in this story - he’s a popular comedian who has talked a fair bit about his recently ended

I agree. Is it a good adaptation of the comic book? No. Is it a fun movie on its own terms? Absolutely!

I agree. Greg comes in as hapless kid who doesn’t really know what he wants out of life other than a vague feeling that he shouldn’t have to work very hard for it because he comes from wealth, and while he doesn’t have a particularly strong moral compass he at least seems to know right from wrong better than his

In a season where all of the main actors turned in award-worthy performances, Matthew Macfayden stood a cut above. Tom is such a complex mix of insecurity, self-loathing, desperation, self-pity, and both a lifelong victim of bullying and in turn a vicious bully himself.

This has always been my take on Shiv. Roman understands that he’s a bad person engaged in a morally bankrupt enterprise but has adopted a kind of “fuck it, I might as well enjoy being evil” mentality to justify his lifestyle, while Kendall is for the most part (episodes like this finale aside when he has one of his

The cast of Only Murders in the Building was fantastic. Steve Martin and Martin Short both tend to pick their projects these days and have occasionally looked like they were phoning it in when they have acted over the last 20 years, but this show was a reminder of how effortlessly funny they can be when they’re really

I think the thing with Sarah Sherman is that she was an exciting, rising talent in the Chicago comedy scene so a lot of critics who are familiar with her work there want her to bring some of the weird energy she developed a reputation for to SNL and become a breakout star. But yeah aside from that one Weekend Update

Lol come on dude you can’t write a full article about a video game (or ~video game-like experience~ or however WB is describing this) and wait until the last paragraph to parenthetically mention that it’s only available on PS5 and Xbox Series X. When a new video game that people rave about the graphics for comes out,

I thought that Jeremy Strong came across as interesting but kind of insufferable in that profile. It was by no means the meanest profile of an actor that I’ve ever read, but I can certainly understand why people who know Strong personally would feel aggrieved on his behalf upon reading it.

I finally watched Black Widow on Disney+ last weekend and I thought that it was mostly a fun if inessential MCU entry, mostly benefitting from having fight choreography that is above average by MCU standards. What really drags it down for me though is that the first 25 minutes or so are unwatchable dreck. I almost
