While a carbon tax would be an immediate improvement over current policy (almost anything would be!), we’re likely past the point where it’s sufficient. Because we’ve delayed and delayed and delayed on addressing climate change, we’re now at a point where we likely need severe and aggressive government intervention,

I’m sure the sports tabloids in New York will throw a fit over this (it’s just not the way things are done at Mr. Mara’s organization!), but he’s 100% correct.

I think there’s a rebuilding team in New York that’s going to have a shit ton of cap space next season.

It’s wild to me that, with all of their money and the absurd lengths they’ll go to for any tiny advantage, pro sports teams don’t have counselors on staff and better mental health resources. It sure seems like this dude’s problems could be helped with some talk therapy and anti-anxiety medication! Stigma around mental

I am an evil scum Yankees fan, and after being very excited about this team early in the season then very down on them during their July/August collapse I am now officially very hyped about them again. I look forward to my large adult son Luke Voit winning the World Series with a walk-off home run.

It’s nice to see the NHL take an illegal hit seriously, but I’m pessimistic that this is a newfound seriousness that will last for the duration of the season.

I really enjoyed the show and just wanted to point out that at least one reason why the episode recaps were kind of down on it is that the reviewer wasn’t really paying attention and kept getting pissy about things that had very obviously been explained or were self-evident.

Yeah, but The Atlantic isn’t a newsroom in the same sense that your local newspaper is. Though it may break news once in a blue moon, 99% of the time it’s a magazine devoted to opinion and commentary. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal that Jemele Hill has a minor business relationship with Lebron James in the

I’m not sure what your point is here beyond your standard shtick of being a dick with bad opinions. Her business relationships are disclosed in the article, so she’s obviously not trying to hide it from anyone, and The Atlantic is hiring her for her skill as a writer and her opinions, not to be a

Despite the complaints, I think the won that matcha fair and square.

I worry that the Rangers aren’t going to suck enough and are going to trade their next 3 first round draft picks for a 35-year old fourth-line winger when they find themselves only 3 points out from a playoff spot on deadline day.

Occam’s razor on why he’s lied so much about his drinking is that acknowledging he used to blackout regularly is an admission that it’s possible he committed these assaults while drunk and just doesn’t remember them. But my pet theory is that he’s an active alcoholic. I’m Irish - I haven’t always had a healthy

Yeah, it’s absolutely bizarre how often this reviewer has complained about things that were very obviously explained on screen. I can definitely see how this show isn’t for everyone but it’s very irritating for this dude to be issuing a sweeping critical verdict on a show that he seems to have only half-watched while

I cringe when I think about so many of the comments I made on the internet when I was younger. I mainly use the Facebook “on this day” feature to find and delete inexcusably stupid and/or offensive things that I posted when I was in college. Just about the only thing I’ve gotten more sure of as I’ve aged is that I’ll

I definitely get why this show isn’t for everyone (I certainly know plenty of people I wouldn’t recommend it to), but it’s frustrating to read reviews where the writer is missing plot points and visual cues that address a lot of his complaints and getting irritated by his own misreadings of what’s happening.

Mourinho was never the right manager for United. Aside from the fact that the game has changed since he first made a name for himself but his tactics haven’t, he’s never been a believer in the things that United fans want to see and that have traditionally been successful at the club.

I was just coming down here to comment on American elites’ weird, performative Springsteen fandom.

I remember when the Rangers were truly putrid in the early 2000s and used to have bench-clearing brawls all the fucking time - it was the only entertaining thing about the team.

Not sure that having a sexual predator who groomed her when she was underage around is the best thing for her.

Eh, I would bet (no pun intended) that these aren’t exactly experienced robbers - probably more like a few 18 or 19-year olds who thought it would be an easy score and then got scared out of their minds once they were actually doing it. I would also bet that the gun was fake.
