I would 100% go to Westworld. Riding through that landscape on horseback would be awesome! People drink rye straight out of the old-timey bottle! You could (and from a moral perspective probably should) skip inflicting any harm on the robots and still have it to be the coolest fucking vacation you’ve ever been on.

Jesus christ dude. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen an article from you that wasn’t about Messi or Barcelona where you weren’t just toxically sour. France’s goal certainly took the wind out of Belgium’s sails for about half an hour, but the first half was great and if you can’t recognize that then I don’t know why you

But what the Yankees need to pull ahead in their neck-and-neck division race is starting pitching (or a time machine to trade for someone besides fucking Sonny Gray last year), not better defense or batting. If they want Machado that badly they can just sign him in free agency. The additional several victories he’d

Brazil are huge frauds. They never looked convincing at any point in the tournament, Neymar is the poster boy for everything that non-soccer fans hate about soccer, and they’re lucky they didn’t lose to Belgium by more.

Seconded, but I want to add that he’s also responsible for Power Rangers, a show that I loved as a 6-year old but is easily the most “holy shit what was I thinking, kids are so fucking stupid” piece of children’s entertainment that I’ve ever revisited as an adult.

I was at Game 4 of the 2001 World Series. My dad made us leave in the 8th inning to beat the traffic, thereby depriving me of witnessing a historic baseball moment in the most dad way possible. I’ve never let him forget it.

$5.3 million might not be as much as a player of his caliber could typically expect on the free agent market, but I don’t know that I’d say he “won’t make much money in the short term.” I mean, that’s still more money that I will make in my entire career.

Oh I agree, Spain-Russia was painful to watch, but as a fan with no horse in the race I’ve been loving the number of upsets - having Spain, Argentina, and Germany all knocked out before the quarters makes the rest of the tournament so much more fun. I’m definitely rooting for like a Switzerland-Colombia quarter-final

This has been the best World Cup in recent memory. At this point with how awesome it’s been to see big names get knocked out early I’m just rooting for the underdog in every game.

Sometimes I think that people who like Drake are in fact part of a global conspiracy to prank me. Like if at some point I’m feeling insecure and lie to some friends “oh I really like Drake’s new album” Ashton Kutcher is going to show up and tell me I’ve been punk’d.

Yeah, that would definitely be my intuition since American soccer fans tend to be better educated, more urban, higher income, and a bunch of other stuff that correlates with tolerance, but I guess I’m curious if this is a question that social scientists have ever dug into.

I’m genuinely curious if the fact that the only 2 American male athletes to be openly gay during their playing careers play soccer is because soccer culture (whether that be fans, players, or both) is more accepting than the other pro leagues or if it’s just a coincidence because we have such a small sample size.

I think it’s gotta be journeyman mediocrity. Like, I’d be genuinely surprised if Jerry Rice had more teammates than Ryan Fitzpatrick.

This is the right take. “Won’t someone think of the poor German soldiers who were drafted but never really supported the Nazis” is a weird fucking position to take in the current moment.

I’ve never met a dude name Jesse who wasn’t insufferable. Just throwing that out there.

Jumbled timelines, perspectives, etc. can be a fun and valuable way to tell a story, but they’re way too often used to cover the fact that the story just isn’t that interesting on its own (e.g. Westworld telling a pretty basic sci-fi story that’s been done better elsewhere) or when the writers promised a big,

I’m glad Ocasio-Cortez won and am excited for her future, but I would say that for a lot of establishment progressive organizations, be they environmental groups, pro-choice, pro-gun control, whatever, it’s almost never the right play to endorse a challenger in a primary. Sure, every once in a while a more progressive

Going into this World Cup I was not expecting much (probably because the US’ failure to qualify bummed me out about the entire tournament) but it has been so much fun so far.

What the fuck? On what possible grounds could Gary fucking Bettman be Hall of Fame worthy? Like, I get that commissioners almost always get inducted into their respective sport’s hall of fame, deserving or no, but this man has come close to killing the NHL as a going concern on more than one occasion in the name of

Yeah just chiming in with everyone else that this is wrong. Regardless of what the official regulations might say, neither the people taking your passport photos nor the people processing your passport application let you smile, even a little bit, in the photos.
