An issue I see with that is that the ones that are in markets with a plethora of fast chargers are selling to the point they cant keep them on lots.

Striking and dropping vehicle prices has GM getting cold feet. They don’t want to brunt a penny of predicted loss to get the thing to market. Hope pre-order holders all get together and push their hands. GM is probably waiting to get a drop in cost for making their hilariously over-complicated battery pack.

A 212kwh pack (if made on the superior 800v architecture) would drive the charge capacity to a peak of almost 500kwh if GM pays attention to cooling needs mid pack. However most high speed DC chargers in the wild are capped around 350kwh. So a 212kwh pack would take a massive 40ish minutes to refuel.

Why take the efficiency in packaging hit? The ultum pack is less power, cell density, and weight-per-kwh then the more standard cell pack they used on the bolt.

Hard agree. Insteadof the S or X that is styled for their size or even the 3, they Y should be here. It’s like they just inflated the 3 to fit what they needed. .

Looking at the setup.  they popped open the rear hatch and used that as a pop up camper back.  The fold out side panels seem to link into the roof for more camping space.  Seems rather nice.

That would cut a solar panel install for a house from 10 panels to 3. That would be AMAZING news.
The thing here tho is the cars proximity to the equator. I wonder how this would fare for a trip from the south of Italy to say Scotland. That would be a true torture test for the vehicle’s solar capture system.
