It is a fun pipedream. The car wouldn’t pass even the lowest of non-pasenger (SUV) crash regulations of today. I would LOVE to see a modern version of it with a low load deck, large open rear hatch to actually use the rear room that box has. The suicide rear doors are still seen on trucks so it could be made safer. STI

Dry cell batteries and super-capacitor banks will go a long way to help that. Same for the advances in electric motors themselves.

Seeing as its a single laqured piece instead of infill on a chrome part.  I’m sure it will last longer.

Gotta keep up with the market. Fun thing it’s typically the lowest trim levels and the TOP top line ones.
I wonder how long till more companies make the bounce feature from Mercedes.

Toyota makes a MINT off that shit too. They shove a $600+ sensor behind a $300+ emblem and pray a plastic $200 bracket holds it in place in a $500+ grille. One small 2-5mph bump and you are out a LOT if one of those things goes Aron Rogers. That is before the dealer charges you $400-1200 for the privilege to

It looks a bit taller, more rounded, then the old one.

Fun fact.  the tow for an EV like a tesla can add more range with harvesting then the charger part would be a lot faster.

See the chevy Bolt. It’s almost a 1-1 of the Sonic just a bit more updated. Not every EV is a weird spaceship that takes under 2 minutes to master how to shift or roll up windows or park and turn off.

Recovery trucks carrying a 12kwh battery so they can DC charge a stranded EV would be a good solution. Sure it’s not as small as a jerrycan but it’s not an impossible thing. Worst case, you can just simply be towed behind the recovery truck and recover range from harvesting.

See GM on the C5. At least tesla doesn’t shove the loop in the foot well by the hood pop.

They could easily engineer it to be a press like normal but the surrounding be a pull loop so its one singular action for the doors if the electric latch doesn’t release.

The little glow in the dark stickers are perfect for this.

Se the car with low air pressure. That alone will kill that 90 miles to much less. There is a LOT hertz did wrong here that could have been prevented. Having their damn car to start within would be a good one. The duo could have driven said tesla to the nearest hertz location and stopped there for them to either

0-100kph and the car is 2bph/kilo The record 0-100kph or 0-62mph happened in a bit over 11 meters of distance.

Top fuel has had decades of incremental improvements to the point that the cars cost about $60k a run and a full rebuild costs over $500k. This schools budget is smaller and the car can reliably run close to this time with a charge in between.

Supercapaciters are a BIG breakthrough for things like this. Motor development as well as traction control systems are a big boon as well.

The most direct thing I could see would be traction control programming/development. The computing methods used to modulate the grip levels at each tire and how they talk with each other would be great learning for the future auto developers.

They already did. Welcome to about 2 years ago. Those insurance thieves don’t wait a second to raise rates.

They have. They released a recall to get a security programming update that defeats the ticktock spread exploit.

At least they didn’t send people to the grave like GM with cheapening out on ignition switch components only to hide data and reports as well as change the product number mid cycle instead of making a new part number. Yea they KNEW it was an issue. GM just played stupid, cried to the government, got handed billions.
