The main reason to lock it out at the start is to reduce the number of carbon heaps littering the initial packs. Like I stated, they have them as half doors. As for a full door, I’m sure it has been done in some of the older cars. Ive seen normal swing 4 doors with no B pillar in old doors. They have a few in the 30's as well, but doors then were more an aesthetic thing than a load bearing or safety component.

suicide doors wiht no B pillar are a thing already. Chvy has em on the half door quad caps. Has for a while. The RX-8 and Veloster had them with the half rear rood things. I’m sure they have been around for longer than that too.
