You can quit to desktop with Alt+F4 in Torchlight 2. Admittedly it doesn't have a menu option, but ALT+F4 is even faster.

No genius, you don't have to sit through the installation PROCESS, because once downloading is finished you can start up the game. With PS3 you have to download AND wait through the installation process.

But if you don't pre-load, it will just download the game, run the DirectX installer and run. Or in some cases run without installing DirectX.
