B-52's on SNL in 1990. They played Cosmic Thing and also Channel Z, which I think I liked a little bit better. It was mesmerizing, I’d never seen anything like them before. Also developed a huge crush on Kate Pierson after this

This is going to sound painfully earnest and sentimental, but the performance that sticks with me the most is Paul Simon’s singing of “The Boxer” on the first post 9/11 episode of SNL. Everything that I could say about that day and the days that followed has been better said already. Suffice it to say, it was just a…
Ooooohhhhhh... the “SOUTH SIDE,” the big scary south side, that monolith, that war zone, that land under the rainbow where bluebirds die.
Dude, when I lived in Chicago we would drive to Indiana for cheaper alcohol. People would do absolutely the same for guns. You really don’t think that having a state that is insanely lax on gun control a half hour drive away doesn’t affect things?
It’s not bullshit. May not be South Bend, but many of the guns in Chicago do come from Indiana, because Hoosiers have such lax gun laws comparatively. That said, nobody said they were smuggled in - people can just go cross the border to East Chicago and buy them.
I feel ya, most satirists have had to go bigger and broader in an attempt to stay ahead of the curve, the Trump supporters have basically become a parody of themselves
I don’t see the supposedly disingenuous argument here. A big part of this piece is about community efforts to combat Chicago’s ongoing gun violence problem. Noah’s point is something to the effect of “Chicago has a number of problems, but the factors that cause them are numerous and complex. Also, there are many good…
What about....”If...”?? Never seen of any of the above titles.
Wouldn’t a remake of The Great Dictator be in order right about now? Who gets Chaplin’s part? The Three Stooges’ take off on the three Axis dictators might help as well.
I grew up somewhat exposed to an evangelical environment and have, despite my political leanings and secular beliefs, really tried to see the people at the end of the day and not become too embittered and hateful towards them...
There’s nothing Evangelicals love more than a good persecution fantasy.
“Trump scientists clone Bin Laden in effort to undo major achievement of Obama administration.”
My 2 cents: better to know now than go “where did this go off the rails...” later when tiki torches and other idiocy goes violent
Not the decades of poverty, debt, horrible government, poor services, and everything else millions of people have lived with?
It must be excruciating for trumpoids to live in a country where 65% of Americans (plus Rex Tillerson) and 90% of the media as well as the entertainment industry consider your main man a moron. It must also be a bitch having to bend over backwards to convince yourself each and every day that your main man’s inanities…
As someone who just spent 50 or so hours over the past five days trying to get information out of Puerto Rico, I don’t know. Maybe it’s the lack of sleep. But I appreciated the jokes here, because what I saw made me angry enough to punch a hole in my wall (and this from a man who has never been in a fight in his…
As someone has already said, he’s probably against this new bill because it doesn’t screw over *enough* people.
Mad at Comey for reopening a dead scandal.
The greatest influence over our election was the Fake News Media “screaming” for Crooked Hillary Clinton. Next, she was a bad candidate!
I’m starting to think 2016 was a reward for all the talented people we lost. Now, they don’t have to live in the Racist Peepaw Groundhog Day Of 2017. Lucky stiffs.
