The onion rings were amazing, and we served them up through 2004 at minimum.  Weird thing was there was nothing special about them, you battered them in the same egg wash and flour mixture as the chicken and then fried them in the shortening.  They are my standard for good onion rings though.

Not a pain to make at all.  The vast majority of the sides come in bags that you put in a boiler and just pour out.  There are some exceptions but not many.  Not sure what meat it uses though.

100% that's why

Yeah, the rice is fine, but nothing special. Those onion rings were special and unique.

This is my lunch today and it’s fantastic. Please Popeye’s. Do it forever.

I had this when it was last on the menu a while back, and it was...OK. Doesn’t hold a candle to the Red beans and rice at Bojangles. I want to shoot it up and snort it.

That’s a good first step, Popeyes.  Now, about the jambalaya...

I really enjoy Popeyes, but I don’t really like their sides.  I almost always get their fries.  The rice was one of the better ones I would get it as side #2, good to see it back, sorta.

I was raised in that area. Didn’t even realize that track was capable of hosting a NASCAR race. Learn something new every day

Even number highways are east/west.  Even it was oriented in the north/south direction in that particular area, there is still an eastbound and westbound lane based on the overall direction of the highway.

Because while at that area the road is going N/S it is continuing west into MO.

And we have a vacation house in Osage Beach and yes those wooded areas get dark af.

FWIW - As a frequent visitor to Sunrise Beach, that section of the Hwy 54 has folks driving around 70+ mph around that section of the road (65 is the limit the limit on that state road). There are few “exit ramps” but many side roads that dump right on to it. In particular, that off ramp isn’t well lit at night,

Perhaps “on his way home from WWTR” as opposed to “leaving” is correct as WWTR is in Madison IL and Osage Beach MO is HOURS away from there.

That’s a really non-pedestrian spot, it’s a fast interchange cut in to the hills so it’s almost tunnel like at times. Designed as a by-pass to all the slow moving and pedestrian traffic of Osage Beach’s main drag. A “oh shit, methhead on the highway” moment passes the sniff test in my opinion

That’s too bad. I liked the dynamic of Leaphorn as the more secular man working with Chee.

McClarnon’s acting is at another level at least several kilometers above Beach. I’ve never understood how Beach kept getting roles. His performances are more wooden that a 2x4.

I enjoyed the first season quite a bit, but it was particularly funny to see them finally get to her big showstopping number and essentially see her say “okay, amateurs, here’s how you fucking do this.”

I had no idea she was involved. Thank you for bringing to my attention as I will definitely give this a shot now! I love her. She was so good on Trial & Error Season 2. Where the ever-living-hell can I stream that show?!?

Compared to Republicans, yes. The world isn’t black and white.
