Also, the reason that a lot of attention gets payed to urban/suburban populations is that 80-some-odd percent of the country lives in those areas. I don’t see why we are supposed to weight the coverage of less than a quarter of the population against the clear majority of people. That’s just idiotic.

While I think it was a fool’s errand to try and turn G06 blue, running a Bernie type in that area would have been equally futile. I wish we went back to a 50 state strategy instead of some Dems trying to push Sanders types everywhere (that’s never going to happen in fucking West Virginia and it certainly didn’t help

I don’t completely disagree, but I find it absurd that people think running a far left candidate against someone like Joe Manchin or in Georgia’s Sixth is going to work. Not only is socialism still viewed as a dirty word in most of America, but class based concerns are most often filtered through a giant old racist

I think we’re at the point where pretty much all Democrats or Republicans are going to vote party over policy.

I can’t wait for Sanders supporters to blame this on not running a more progressive candidate in the Georgia fucking 6th.

All these special elections were vacant seats from Trump cabinet selections, chosen specifically because of how solidly red they are. These are supposed to be safe R districts. None of them should be remotely competitive. This race is something that should have never crossed our radar because of how assured the

Nobody was thinking about Bernie but you.

One detail I seem to remember from the Elle article was that Cavill’s salary (if it even is accurate at all) included bonuses, which Gadot could/probably will get as well. I don’t have any idea how the base pay relates to the bonuses, but comparing $300k with $14M is entirely useless if we’re not including the same

This is a sad article, I am one who wored with mental health patients and loved them, because they are real people despite of their illness. In training on how to help them, you first try to help turn their thinking around. you have to always be calm. I am sure officers have had this training. the first thing

Just FYI-This video is not from Sunday. It is from the incident she had with the police about a week ago. Myself and other neighbors have tried to tell news outlets this for context. On Sunday, they rang up to her apartment and she let them in- because she called and most likely thought they were there to help.

Actually, it sounds like something that should make them EXTRA prepared to de-escalate. It sounds like something that they should make extra preparations for.

Essentially, people with mental health interventions on their record will be flagged with that information, with links to the records in question. This will come up in a call opf this kind, regardless of the reason for the call, and the dispatcher will act accordingly. There *was* a time when non-Police intervention

I was just coming here to post this. Glad you’re on it.

I don’t think Mackie’s officially confirmed it, but it’s been heavily rumored that the show will go with a blank slate for the new show runner, the same way they started with both a new Doctor and new companion when Moffat took over from Davies with the fifth season (which introduced both 11 and Amy).

Was it as bad as Notorious?

Holy crap, why is this not being highlighted

Basically it means she had a previous encounter with police and a weapon was involved.

Exactly!

Speaking as someone who used to dispatch:

Hazard files (unless they use a vastly different system/terminology than we did) are files that display information when you punch in a person’s information or an address that could be officer safety issues. What it means is that, at some point, an officer responding to a call

Sounds like the “hazard information” was that the apartment was transitional housing.
