I would have to assume Matt Ryan was picked for the role for a variety of reasons (acting skill, overall appearance, chemistry with costars, availability for a weekly series filmed in the US, etc), and just happened to beat out candidates from Liverpool. Hugh Jackman is too tall to play Wolverine as well *shrug*.

Aren't they really doing this because DC is moving offices and they need the two months to get set up again? It was called the band-aid for awhile but basically this event was a way for them to still put out comics but have it prepared WAY ahead of time.
