Peter David’s Aquaman run was so good. To me he is the definitive writer of the character in the same way that Priest is the definitive Black Panther writer for me based off of his run on the book.

My only issue with your post is that your references are a little off...Aquaman was like a mash-up of Flash Gordon and Romancing the Stone mixed with a dash of mythic horror wrapped in a comic book movie “hero’s journey” bow.

This movie was fun as all get out and visually one of the best comic book films that has been made. James Wan was able to make a movie that combined adventure/rom-com/action/sci-fi/horror all into one enjoyable as hell comic book movie.
