I’ve liked all of the KGatLW albums this year for different reasons. FMB maybe the least, if only because it’s the most straightforward — microtones aside. The new one comes closest to Nonagon Infinity, which is my favorite of theirs.

Agreed. I saw the film when I was five or six and the scary/creepy scenes being mixed in with all the humor and fantasy really pushed my buttons. It had a real effect on me.

I didn’t really get into Sampha’s album either. I found the album a bit half-baked. I like him on most of the collaborations he’s been a part of, and the few singles he released form the album. Perhaps he’s just best as a collaborator, or needs to work with a producer who will really push him.
