I bought a Subaru from a guy who used to build dune buggies with Subaru and Toyota parts, he’d take the rear subframe out of a Subaru 4WD wagon or something, with a Toyota Corolla (RWD) 4 cylinder engine and (usually automatic, since the manual was kind of convoluted to make work) mounted above and forward of it, with…
Looking at a parts diagram, the center console itself is the same manual to automatic https://www.justparts.com/Auto_Parts/Jeep-CHRYSLER-OEM-94-98-Grand-Cherokee-Center-Console-Bezel-5EP14SAZ/25815681
Assuming it’s the parts on the console that are broken, if it’s the clips on the boot itself, you might have to get…
Also, I in no way, shape, or form meant this as a “girls don’t belong in junkyards” comment,
This.
Almost no one:
David Tracy: Pretty girl wants to hang out, lets go to the junkyard!
American auto manufacturing mentality: If it doesn’t just barely outlast the warranty period they won’t need to buy a new car
I’d be curious though if those used an electric-assisted rack/column or an electric-over-hydraulic system that would probably be easier to adapt into something else. The MR2 used a standard power steering rack, and the pump was more or less a normal power steering pump, just used and electric motor to spin the pump…
I have yet to see anyone use the phrase “it goes without saying” without following that with what, supposedly, goes without saying. Does it still go without saying if you say what supposedly goes without saying???
Here in Washington you can get ‘em if it’s over 25 years old, or “Horseless Carriage” plates if it’s over 50, but you can only drive it to car shows and events etc... and less than 500 miles a year or something like that, versus being able to use it as a daily.
I used to have a 92 SVX, actually have had two of them. I need another one :-P Does it turn into a Subrau when you spill a beer in the back?
yeah she definitely doesn’t skip leg day :-P
Funny thing is in 1967 the MSRP of those four cars together is about what a base EcoBoost costs today... But if you transported all four to the present and put ‘em on BringATrailer, you could retire :-P
I’ll second the being mindful of what cars are around you... Sometimes it doesn’t do any good though, the other night my wife was headed home from work and the person behind her was too close for her comfort, she kept speeding up to widen the gap but didn’t work... Came to a light and the 80s Camry on 13" pizza…
Most of the time if it’s NOT a truck, it’s a friggin Honda Pilot... But I drive a Prius so EVERYONE rides my ass no matter how fast I’m going >.<
Minor nit, I-90's terminus is with I-5 in Seattle, and while it’s near the Puget Sound, it’s about a hundred or so miles to the coast :-P
Why on Earth did someone swap a Saab Sonnett engine into a fucking Camry???
I thought NASCAR = Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks?
Some of those are old enough to legally import, too... Given the plethora of Chrysler minivans with dead transmissions around, would be interesting to import a container of front clips and fuel tanks and do some converting!
Someone did this on the 205 bridge that spans the Columbia between Oregon and Washington... Got halfway across before a cop flagged them down
