What Jeremy Strong is doing with that role should be celebrated twice as much as it is.
I’m with ya. I think of all the main characters, Kendall is the closest to being a good person. I honestly think his motivation to take over the company was partially informed by his desire to use it more for good, and to abandon many of the Logan-inspired investments he’s disgusted with — the first season regularly…
I watched the whole first season and last night’s episode this weekend.
I’m sorry buddy, but if you truly believe the music coverage on this site hasn’t dipped in quality, you’re so fucking clueless. LOL.
Per the Ringer: “Berman was typically self-effacing about his return to music: “I’m not convinced I have fans,” he said. “In my whole life, I’ve had maybe 10 people who have told me how much my music means to them.”
Berman was a giant. My generation’s greatest songwriter. What he and Malkmus accomplished in 1998 with American Water is something to be celebrated forever. And, of course, the recent Purple Mountains release cements his legendary status, without a doubt the AOTY. The man wrote about depression better than anyone…
It’s a testament to Anderson’s direction and writing abilities that nearly every single character in this masterpiece is an awful, damaged human being (an exception exists for Hoffman and Reilly). Nevertheless, he makes you sympathize with each of them in turn in a totally convincing way.
Fuck, I love Princess Mononoke. It is such a lovely, heart-wrenching movie and the art direction is, of course, unimpeachable. I think it is Miyazaki’s finest story and certainly one that is still prescient today. I encourage everyone to see it if they haven’t.
“As a child of the suburbs—albeit one who takes solace in the fact that I lived the first five years of my life in Manhattan—I loathe them with a fiery passion [...]”
I’m with you there.
This is such a boring and contrived album.
I didn’t consider it, and I’ve actually never seen it. Tarantino split writing credits on that film, correct?
I like this!
Prior to seeing this, I was of the opinion that Tarantino had not released a great movie in nearly 15 years. I mean, Inglorious Basterds had moments of greatness (particularly the opening scene, potentially the greatest thing Tarantino has ever written or directed) but the movie was not very cohesive, at least in my…
It’s unfortunate you did not like The Secret History, which I found to be tremendous. Why the hate, friend?
Interesting. I was engaged through the first 150 pages, then somewhat bored for the next 400 pages, but the last 100 or so pages I found to be tremendously moving.
I reject your position regarding Annihilation.
Jackie and Annihilation were tremendous movies, specifically elevated by Portman’s presence. Vox Lux was a bad film with moments of greatness that gave us an otherwise great Portman performance.
I read the linked article. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Harriot has conveniently finessed his use of citations to that piece.
