I watched the whole first season and last night’s episode this weekend.

It’s a testament to Anderson’s direction and writing abilities that nearly every single character in this masterpiece is an awful, damaged human being (an exception exists for Hoffman and Reilly). Nevertheless, he makes you sympathize with each of them in turn in a totally convincing way.

Fuck, I love Princess Mononoke. It is such a lovely, heart-wrenching movie and the art direction is, of course, unimpeachable. I think it is Miyazaki’s finest story and certainly one that is still prescient today. I encourage everyone to see it if they haven’t.

Interesting. I was engaged through the first 150 pages, then somewhat bored for the next 400 pages, but the last 100 or so pages I found to be tremendously moving.

I reject your position regarding Annihilation. 

Jackie and Annihilation were tremendous movies, specifically elevated by Portman’s presence. Vox Lux was a bad film with moments of greatness that gave us an otherwise great Portman performance.
