She has that chameleon ability to adapt to any venue, tbh. I also saw her play at the Denver Botanical Garden some years back, and it was awesome. She opened up the show by saying that the rich folks owning homes near the gardens requested that she lower the volume on her amps and not play any of her louder tracks.

St. Vincent kicks so much ass.

Radiohead in Pittsburgh was sublime, as ever. Sure, their best stuff may be in the past, but when a band consistently puts out great work, who gives a shit.

In my opinion, this was a thoughtful—albeit tonally quite dark—and entertaining movie. True to form, a lot of the author’s criticisms in this piece don’t make much sense and are exaggerated. I encourage everyone to see this and decide for themselves.

Totally! A lot of his early stuff (*most* of Doris and the Earl mixtape especially) is pretty good evidence that the dude can lay it down when he goes hard. Thanks for this write-up, Clayton! Always enjoy your insights.

Yeah, this is truly a great rap album. Maybe a bit brief, but I guess that’s sort of the point.

Largesse is such a wonderful collection of stories. I miss DJ.

You Won’t Get What You Want is an amazing album (their best) and I am thrilled to see it here!

Yup. I’m a male, and I fucking despise the “nice to meet you” hug.

EXACTLY!

Out of the mountains. In the makeshift camp now.

I was really excited about RDR2. Bought it the day after it came out. In the weeks since, I have maybe spent 2 hrs actually playing it. I should add that my career doesn’t really leave me a ton of time to play videogames in extended sessions but even so, I found it to be incredibly boring. Traditionally, I am drawn to

Oh, yeah. That is a pretty cool song. Thanks!

What do you find great about Brief Inquiry? Not trying to troll, legitimately curious.

I agree!

Barb reads reviews and articles comparing this band the 1975 to bands beloved by many but especially by Barb, including Radiohead, the Beatles, Blur, the Rolling Stones, etc.

I actually wasn’t that offended by the article. I have been arguing that Drew Brees IS the best QB in the NFL for at least a decade. Judged purely on statistics, that is an easy argument to make. The TDs and passing yards speak for themselves, but his completion percentage is INSANE (above 70% nearly every season).

Hahahahah, snice.

There is definitely some good stuff up there. But the snubs are fucking ridiculous. Sleep, Behemoth, Jesus Piece, and Daughters all released better music than any band listed in this article.

That is definitely not a bad thing.
