From a technical standpoint, no one else has proven to be capable of doing what he's doing. But I do feel like the themes of spiritual malaise and celebs living in destructive ennui are not all that cutting edge from a narrative standpoint.

Does anyone think that the critical fallout that has accompanied each of Malick's last three films has anything to do with them being released so close together? I have not seen To the Wonder, but found Knight of Cups to be a very good film at best, a serviceable Malick movie at worst. I do think that continuing to

ooh but I love that thing she does with her eyebrows..

Is Emma Watson a talented actress? I do not trust myself to say yes or no. I really want to believe she is a great actress because, well, she is very attractive and all.

I am of the opinion that this scene is the single greatest thing Tarantino has ever done. Actually, everything he has done since this scene (including the rest of IB, Django, and Hateful 8) has been a sad case of diminishing returns. This scene, however, is perfect and beyond criticism.

Yes. But you're a nice enough guy and I won't hate you for it.

My gut reaction is to have Spike at number one, but I realize that is tricky because he was only really a villain for a single season.

Just wanted to comment that this movie was jaw-droppingly great. I've only ever been this dumbfounded by a comic book movie twice before. First, with the original X-Men (a good movie, but my love stemmed more from growing up with the comics), and second with The Dark Knight (also a *good* movie, though not as great as

Angel's strongest episodes don't even come close to matching peak Buffy. Not by any stretch of the imagination.

This movie is infinitely better than the Dark Knight.

Yeah, just walked out. Nothing you said is inaccurate in my opinion.

Fuckin' A

Yup. Insane.

So, I recently watched Moonlight, and although I thought it was a very good film, I do not think it really hits the mark quite as well as some of the other BP noms (specifically, Manchester, Arrival, and Hell or High Water).

Why do the Grammy's exist? Clearly, they do not celebrate merit in any coherent manner, which is strange considering it is an awards show.

Hatch was fucking great as Zarek in the BSG reboot. One of my favorite characters throughout that show's run. RIP.

What is wrong with Bannon's face?

IQ84 is the only Murakami book I have not read. Will get around to it eventually. I think the best way to approach his work is to incorporate long gaps in between reading his novels, rather than blowing through them all one after another. To be sure, I think the criticisms aimed at Murakami for being derivative are

I'm the opposite. I consider Hard-Boiled and Wind-Up to be his best, and found Kafka to be a self-indulgent mess. Still enjoyed it though. But it does not even begin to compare to Wind-Up. At least in that novel, the wierder elements had some sort of meaning in regards to the plot.
