It seems like the new, leaner military will put a prime focus on being high tech with more covert and special operations. I'm kind of excited by that, and I think that's the way to for the future.

Both have their places. I actually heard today that the new shift towards a leaner military includes increasing special forces and covert operations. Other military programs are getting finance cuts, but Seal Team 6 and the like will get an increase in funding every year.
