It’s more watchable than Temple of Doom, which has sections I actively hate, but also more forgettable. Both are vastly inferior to Raiders and Last Crusade.

I wouldn't say "avoid" synthetic materials, those are materials you actually want to wear if you don't want to spend money on wool. Wool will be best but it costs much more. I would say the material that you should definitely avoid would be cotton. Cotton doesn't dry well, and if you start to sweat, you will get cold…
