I don't really care about the shoddy conducting or instrument miming techniques of the main actors since I barely notice it and I'm an amateur musician myself. Still I appreciate your short analysis on proper conducting.

It's funny when I heard her say Sibelius5 I started humming to myself the last movement and then when they started playing it, I was like wait, why aren't they starting with the first movement? and then realized I couldn't hum the opening of the symphony off the top of my head. Would have been nice if she said "3rd

I mean, of course professional musicians make fun of conductors and bandleaders; veterans simply know to save it for when the target is safely out of earshot.

Yeah. it's not an unforgiveable sin for a composer to borrow his own work (or even other composers' work.) John Williams will always be on the Mount Rushmore of film composers. He's a genius. However, I definitely think his work since 2000 can't really compare with his work in the 70s,80s and 90 and I think his

It's not bad as long as you know and don't care that it's the theme from "Hook" just slowed down.

Yeah, I was really interested in seeing this movie, which from the trailer looked like a cool, smart, atmospheric sci-fi movie, until I saw some headlines, maybe on twitter or other pop culture sights warning readers basically to check out the plot details before seeing it. I'm bummed that the movie is apparently

Twister was a great movie to watch in the theater. It has such great production design that you really felt you were in one of those storms. I can't say much about the screenplay except it does have some cool lines, e.g. "finger of god"

I didn't like the score. He got the star wars "sound" and orchestrations but none of the original themes popped and where was the "Imperial March"? was it a licensing issue? Was it a reference to the fact that as of ANH Williams hadn't composed that theme? I don't even recall much of the rebel fanfare in it. It

Damn, that's where I know him from!

I thought the opening had to have been an homage to Good, Bad, Ugly or any other western which uses the same idea (Badass and/or gang strolls up to rural farm looking to start some shit with the farmer/owner). See also Inglorious Basterds.

I didn't think it was actually Cushing since I knew he was dead and I figured he's in too much of the movie for them to do cgi tricks to insert him in. I figured they just found someone who looks vaguely like him. I saw it in IMAX 3D and most of the non-action/scenic stuff looks kind of "off" or slightly blurry anyway

I couldn't believe how amazing Leia looked. It's the special effect of the movie as far as I'm concerned and spent the whole credits wondering how they did it. I'm sure it was helped by how fast the shot goes by. I jsut thought they found someone who vaguely resembled Cushing to do Tarkin since I knew he had died some

I think Eugene O'Neill already wrote that one.

Though the whole series is a bit of a blur, having binged it all last night, I know that the reviewer missed the unbelievably perfect name of that a capella group. It's "Choral Fixation".

If person A makes an allegation that person B said something racist in front of person A, that's not hearsay. Hearsay would be if person A testifies in court in a car accident case that he heard person B say he saw that person C running a red light before the accident. In other words, if there's no question regarding

"Return of the King". I was ambivalent about the first 2 not having read the books, but after seeing the trailer for the first time, (possibly at a screening of one of the matrix sequels?) I was absolutely dying to see it.

Same for the National Guard guy — a politician defying the President, vaguely credible. A military officer? No way.

I like the show but it definitely has some flaws. I didn't buy that Hookstratten would agree to speak at the funeral knowing that the president had been stopped from speaking. That was too villainous especially when she then did an "I'm so honest" routine to president Kiefer.

If you stick with the show until the 2nd season it gets a bit more realistic though I don't think they fix any of the issues you seem bothered by.

Play about a sad Danish prince who gets killed in a duel. A real crowd pleaser.
