No, you be quiet!
Anger issues?
I saw Amy’s show in Austin where she made a joke about a sex act where one guy was banging a woman from behind in front of a window when his friend took over without the woman’s knowledge. The first guy then went outside and waved at her from the window.
I didn’t bring up the issue of the kid baiting anyone. Another poster brought up that Dawkins had mentioned that and my response was basically, “well, maybe he did. How the hell should I know. But that’s irrelevant” In fact, I hadn’t even entertained that idea until someone on this thread brought it up.
It’s not absurd and this isn’t a “tinfoil hat” idea. Kids are smart and try to get under the skin of teachers all the time; it’s a rite of passage. Maybe he was doing this; maybe he wasn’t. Either way, I don’t see it as a big deal.
Sorry, but I’m not sitting inside this kid’s mind, and neither are you. If the kid simply made a clock and wanted to show it off, that’s great. If the kid wanted to test some of the idiots at his school, that’s okay too. Either way, he shouldn’t have been arrested.
Yeah, but in this case, Amy Schumer was ridiculing the victim, who didn’t realize she was being raped until her boyfriend stood outside the window and waved at her while she was being raped by his friend.
Ad ad hominem is the refuge of a person without a logical response.
Or, perhaps it’s just “cultural fit.”
Why aren’t there more black men and white women working in these 200,000 nail salons around the country? It must be racism.
It began in the 1980’s when Christian fundamentalists emerged as a real political/social movement. Maher was one of the first and most vocal media voices slamming fundamentalists in the 1990’s.
What’s happening in Afghanistan is happening in Iraq and Syria as well. This is exactly why I despise Obama’s strategy of bombing ISIS. The Shia militias and the Assad regime are just as bad. ISIS rapes in public, the others rape in private.
Obviously he wasn’t thinking he’d get invited to the White House. But to deny the distinct possibility that he was baiting his idiotic school administration is very naive. Adolescents are very, very savvy and know exactly what will make rigid adults fly off the handle.
No it’s really not stupid, but rather insightful.
Atheists have been pummelled for millennia. Sure, Dawkins overreacts in the same way formerly oppressed groups sometimes overreact, but to make him the bad guy when the world is filled with really evil fucking people is a silly distraction.
So what! Maybe the kid did want to be arrested.
Again, Dawkins and Maher have become entertainers of sorts and occasionally go a bit “over the top,” sure. But to put them in the same camp as Sarah Palin is downright silly. It actually elevates Palin.
That’s bullshit and you know it. Atheists have been pummeled for millennia and are finally reacting. Okay, so they occasionally go over the top, but at the end of the day, neither Dawkins nor Maher would ever try to force you to believe anything or kill you if you didn’t. Religious fundamentalists would try at least…
Nope- rape jokes are unacceptable. If there had been a victim/survivor in the audience, she would have been traumatized all over again.
Again...sigh... why the fuck didn’t they evacuate the school if he was a terrorist and they thought this was a bomb?
