I think he did. For a person to be a commenter here, they're likely a geek to some degree and he sounds savvy enough. Notice he says "if Apple adds turn-by-turn to their own maps app", meaning he's strictly talking about company-native apps.

As far as I can tell, both the Carbon and XPS linked in the article are not exactly wedge-shaped as specified in this patent.

And how did the Gawker editor justify the Abraham Lincoln article?

This is a surprise?

I'm pretty sure he knows there are third-party navigation apps.

Yea.... don't see it. You might just be the only one. How in the world do you think they are the same?

By native, I mean produced by the Apple for the iPhone or Google for an Android phone or MS for a Windows Phone 7 phone, for example, and usually or sometimes integrated much deeper than third-party apps. By third-party I mean anyone else. Pretty simple.

That may be true but he's talking about native offerings. Stuff like that can become a marquee feature of a device, even if you're able to find similar functionality in a third-party app because not a lot of people even know about them or care to. But most of all because it's usually integrated and designed really

Hmm.. does this mean no more streetview feature with an Apple-made maps? Because that feature comes in handy now and again on iOS Maps app.

Only as of late?

lol nice backpedal ;)

No, he ought to mean "if [company] is [company]" #FTFYAGAIN

You realize, though, that you still have to actually see the channel tiles and separate keys and run that remote over them. With this, you can feel the keys without even looking.

Never Say Never

I'll have to agree, where is the simplified, concise UI that Apple is known for? In its current incarnation, it's more utilitarian than it ought to be with a bit more involved UI than necessary - but I only say that because it can be daunting to use if it seems like you can't find the things you really want to do

Yes, because voice commands in Gingerbread is the same exact thing as Siri. Funny how Fandroids (I'll trade one cliche and boring disparaging insult for another but let's grow up, shall we?) will say that there was voice comamands in Android before Siri yet also say in the same breath that they are "looking forward

I don't know about anyone else but I prefer the amalgamized approach. Make one cohesive OS UI/UX. Putting two disparate UIs together in one package and having to manage it yourself is putting undue burden on the user, even by a little. As you said yourself, people don't know what they're doing with Windows 8 if

Not the same as bad surgery.

Yea I remember, it was overblown and misleading.

Not only this but microUSB didn't handle data/video/audio as well as the 30pin. There is a new feature that improves upon it but as far as I know it might not charge as well for something like an iPad.
