One of the problems with this sort of study is the desire of mathematicians and physicists to find the “elegant” solution which usually means reductive reasoning to find something they consider “beautiful”. They disregard “ugly” numbers because they’re harder to compute or whatever.

If we fix our emissions, then we can work on theirs. We’re in a closed ecosystem. Just because they pollute doesn’t give us license to abandon our own.
