Sorry. “Passel” was used to refer to any group of indeterminate number (and I’m not sure how may artistic Smollets there are) where I grew up—passel of pastors, a passel of runners, definitely a passel of children—but I can see how it’s not an all-purpose word, even if it was used that way in the rural part of the US

I mostly feel sorry for him . . .

She is so beautiful and the camera loves her so much that I’ve been sitting in rapt admiration gazing at her, and then I miss dialogue/plot points and have to rewind.

Our local pools are open for lap swim, with carefully orchestrated social distancing (one has to register for a set time, only one person to a lane, masks worn on deck, etc.).

Lake Chelan is beautiful, if a bit cold in early spring.

Thanks for reminding me of this article (which has an embedded link of the Brad-Pitt-eating mashup).

A-Rod is really leaning into this whole frumpy, middle aged, dad thing, huh?

I love Pontypool and the conceit that English is a virus.

Not a drama/romance, but I highly recommend Cheryl Dunye’s The Watermelon Woman, if only for the 90s fashion:)

I love John Sayles and concur about Lianna

And you know that Bush’s statement is driving Trump crazy.  In this whole f*cked up piety display, that’s the only win for me:  thinking about his orangeness realizing the party might be getting ready to desert him.

Just an FYI (to make you sad, I’m sure). A number of police departments across the country use the “warrior-police” training approach; I think that MNPLS uses David Grossman’s program, and it emphasizes being ready, at all times, to regard a suspect (really, the public at large) as an enemy that probably needs

Esther misrepresents all kinds of things to make her case.

thanks for the additional context:)

Kramer’s sex-negative writings and rantings are certainly outweighed by the political activism he performed. I remember watching ACT UP members distributing condoms and chanting in front of Holy Cross in Boston right after Cardinal Law’s mass and thought, “now there’s a way to get someone’s attention.”

I don’t care if it’s any good.  I’ll watch Issa Rae in just about anything.  Bonus that it’s also got Nanjiani, too.

The most amazing thing to me is that the film catapulted Legosi into sex-symbol status:)

One of our rescues loves to be sung to. He is typically stand-offish (he is not a gently-used dog), but if we sing to him, he leans into us and closes his eyes.
