Some of the easiest and most painless ways to cut down on your expenses are: refinance your car and/or house, shop around for car insurance, and consider switching cell phone carriers or removing some features. It can also be helpful to occasionally look in your pantry, fridge, and freezer, and plan out several meals

I'm looking for recommendations on the best cloud backup services for macs. I don't necessarily need it to back up every last file on my hard drive, but it definitely needs to back up all of my music, pictures, and files in my Documents folder. It MUST be reliable and have a decent UI and support automatic backups.

In my house, we use the HomeRoutines iPad app to keep track all of all our cleaning tasks. We clean about 10-15 minutes a night and tackle everything we can in that time frame. We have it set up with weekly tasks, bi-weekly tasks, and a focus zone each week. The focus zones ensure that you get some of the deep

While we're on the subject, here's some etiquette for guys - don't ask us if we're PMSing when we're mad at you. Even if we are, it makes us feel like you're completely dismissing our feelings!

I'm 24 and I've had excellent credit for several years now. When I was 18, I was declined even for a Capital One card, so I applied for a student card at my bank and got that card. After 6 months or so of charging to the card (and paying it off in full each month), my credit was good enough that American Express gave

Oh, you'll know. My experience is that cats love to proudly parade around the house with the dead mouse body in their mouths. I once woke up to a dead mouse in bed with me because my cat had dropped it next to me while waiting for me to wake up and see what he had done.

I could achieve my physique & fitness goals without technology, but it does help. I have a bodymedia fit that helps me determine exactly how many calories I burn in a day - this helps me determine how many calories to eat and motivates me to get some extra movement or exercise in. I use iFitness to track my workouts.

I don't see any reason why you can't go in and start lifting weights. Try reading New Rules of Lifting - it outlines different weight routines and explains how to do each and every exercise.

For email, I think that a pull every 15-30 minutes is sufficient. Rather than paying the absurd AT&T texting charges, I use IM for messaging. Push is essential for IM, so yes, push is important to me. I disable push for all other apps, because I don't feel the need to know the second a friend comments on a facebook

I've never tried Gym Goal, but iFitness is fantastic for tracking strength training workouts. They have it for iOS and Android.

@Rachel Atwood: It didn't work for me the first several times either. Apparently the trick is to keep the home button held down until greenpois0n says it's done jailbreaking. Then, if you get the black screen with a few lines of text about missing files and "greenpois0n initialized" and it's stuck there, you'll want

I'm right with you. I recently paid $35 for an FTP client, of all things. I wasted a lot of time trying out different free clients for my mac. In the applications I tried out, I found the interfaces to be cumbersome, and in some cases, the apps didn't really work well either. Finally, I tried a free trial of

My alarms on my iPhone 4 with 4.0 installed worked just fine this morning. It's jailbroken so maybe that fixed the bug for me?

@greasedupdeafguy: Except it's damn near impossible to find a case for these things, other than the useless bumpers. The apple site has none, and most of the cases I've seen online aren't even shipping out yet.

@89macrunner: Really? I don't see how it could possibly be idiotic to carry a water bottle around. On the other hand, buying bottled water on a regular basis for no reason other than being lazy or ignorant, is idiotic.

@meddlingmonkey: That's a good solution as long as the power doesn't go out!

I keep just my house key, car key, and mail key on my key ring. Everything else is stored at home or in my car's center console. There's no need to carry every key you own around at all times.

@npage148: LOL! I used to do this too. Come to think of it, I'm surprised I didn't get attacked by a cat in the process. The birthing whale technique never worked very well for me though.

I just bought some comforter clips from Bed Bath & Beyond and love them. I turn the cover inside out, line the corners of the comforter up with the corners, and clip the comforter to the cover in each corner. Then, I just flip the cover inside out again, and the clips hold them in place perfectly until it's time to
