Fairy Shrugged.
you seem fun
People have such bizarre ideas of what they should name the baby. I remember just before George was born someone was insisting to me that if it was a girl she would be called Diana, and if it was a boy he would be called Spencer. Fucking Spencer. Prince Spencer. King Spencer.
Probably in the happy alternative universe of one of the significant number of U.S. universities that offer courses in Gender and Women’s Studies.
Agreed. Long time lurker and only now starting to comment but I just wanted to say, it’s good to see you writing for ROYGBIV again, Kat! I’ve missed your writing.
A group of LGBT commentators called for restraint when news first started breaking about Bruce Jenner’s potential…
A more interesting tactic the company can utilize to boost sales other than lame feminist quotes would be to lower their damn prices.
I’m very conforming. Long hair, makeup, pedicures, everything. I don’t get flack for it even in feminist circles. The concept of being whoa is me about it rubs me the wrong way. It’s a made up problem.
They definitely screwed up here, and I think they probably understand why by now. I believe the manager that they are allies, so I’m sure they genuinely listened to the feedback, as well as responding appropriately. Actually I think it was a GREAT response. No fauxpology, just an explanation, a firm statement of…
I didn’t compare white people or christians to mascara. I compared white people, christians, and traditionally feminine presenting women as they are all given privilege in our society even if individuals criticism them sometimes and some of them tend to get a persecution complex about it.
Senate is my absolute favorite restaurant in Cincinnati, their food is fantastic. The Jenner dog is odd, because they almost never tie the actual ingredients to the celeb. I was there on Thursday and their dog was the Jameis Winston, but they failed to put any crab meat on it - such a missed opportunity. A few years…
The idea that U.S. society discriminates against or punishes people for being white people, christian or performing gender the “correct” way as in removing body hair and wearing make up is ludicrous. That’s how.
People criticize each other all the time. I don’t debate that. Removing body hair, wearing make-up, etc. is still the norm, it is still rewarded by society. Sure women tear each other apart for everything, but there is still a very narrow idea of what is “accepted” behavior and those behaviors conform to it and lead…
Everyone who does anything is always going to be criticized by someone. However, acting as if there is some societal backlash against women who perform gender in traditionally accepted ways (removing body hair, wearing make-up, striving to stay thin or have the “right” kind of body, etc.) is a fairy tale.
I feel like spanx are a great idea until you are on a date trying to get out of them. Even as a lady trying to undress another lady I don’t really know how to help without scissors.
Women who conform to those kind of expected social norms are generally rewarded. What you are talking about here, it’s like when white people talk about reverse racisim or when Christians in the U.S say they are persecuted for their religion. It doesn’t exist.
It’s just that your body, when modified by shapewear, is still real. It’s not like it became imaginary when you put it on.
Seem rather convenient. Funny how they can be empowered in a state much closer to how they naturally are, and women require so much expensive modification. Makes you wonder why we are so defective.....
Men are lucky they don’t need so much stuff to be empowered.
Civilized people in civilized countries give second chances to those who are willing to be rehabilitated and pay their debt to society. First degree murderers are released from prison in Norway in less than 21 years and they can go on to be functioning members of society.
