F.D., thank you for bringing up the same point I did in my comment. Hardly anyone mentions that Greedo threatened Han. He was clearly working himself up to pull the trigger. To my mind, Han was perfectly justified in firing first. (If Greedo was too stupid to just shut up and shoot Han already, that’s something else.)

There was no Snyder Cut, until there was. The exact moment when that crossover point occurred is a matter of perspective, and also doesn’t matter that much in the grand scheme of things.

True, but the fact that they’re spending upwards of $70 million on this thing — after saying initially that it would only cost an extra $20-$30 million to complete — seems to suggest that they think they have a winner on their hands. It wouldn’t surprise me if they end up pumping another $30 million into the project

If people didn’t have the patience to sit through a mediocre two-hour film, WB would have to be insane to think they’d go to theaters for a four cut of the film they didn’t go see the first time. HBO Max is absolutely the only future for this thing.

...I mean, the Snyder Cut as a finished product didn’t exist. At its most complete it was a pre-edit workprint with huge swaths of effects work to do, and far longer than any actual film released would be. Also pre-reshoots, which Snyder almost certainly would’ve done just because, yeah, sometimes you need to do

I agree with your comment and I’m just commenting to say that.

I swear almost every writer across all sites were acting like ignorant assholes in 2016 because they all hated Clinton, so they routinely picked up and ran with right wing talking points.

Except he is right, it was the 2016 Gizmodo bullshit story that started off the entire Facebook left wing bias hysteria in the first place, one that had a significant impact on the election and who’s after effects still reach to this very day.

Facebook’s been caught coddling right-leaning outlets and pages several times in the company’s bid to appear unbiased, lest it set off the frothing conservative mob out for its head over baseless claims of anti-conservative censorship.

They’re not. But neither Kripke nor the article puts “80's action movie heroes” or “Dom Torretto” on the other side of that equation. Kripke’s interview implies that the other side is one where there aren’t action heroes in film/TV.

And yes, the Arnold/Sly films from the 80's are just as implicitly fascist as

I always thought they were the Discordians 2.0 only not so serious.

Yeah, I’m older (cough*oldgeezer*cough) and when TLS was released I may have been a hair older than the then target audience.

In a recent interview...screenwriter Jonathan Betuel revealed he and co-writer Gary Whitta are still hard at work on a sequel to 1984's The Last Starfighter.

Right? It’s clear (well, heavily implied) he isn’t a true believer in the white supremacy but he never speaks up. He shows genuine sorrow when he finds Stormfront’s dismembered body. And this was probably the whole point: that there are an uncomfortably large amount of people who don’t “believe” in white supremacy but

The Boys’ second season finale initially makes you assume that, with Lamplighter in their grasp, the Boys and Mallory only need to bide their time until the Congressional hearing where they can finally expose Vought.

Nah. They kick the shit of a nazi in the season finale. That was extremely cathartic to watch.

They made her an AOC-type because they knew that that would endear her to viewers (at least a lot of them) - they’d see her as exactly the one who can bring Vought down, the hero working within the system, counterpoint to Butcher and the Boys working outside of the system. Doing that makes her heel-turn at the end

But like, those were people who actively attacked her (fairly directly one way or another). Her burning Cersie was understandable, going scorched earth on the citizens was not.

Lets consider the more egregious part they didn’t understand. Basic storytelling.

TIE Fighter is #1 on the list, this means that the list is correct and no further rankings are needed.
