I may be showing my age here, but when i was little, many of the model car kits from AMT and JoHan had metal axles. My buddies and I used to do this withthose metal axled kits but we never thought of a guide rod....or pillows...ours would smash into cement curbs, lawns, neighbors cat, whatever was in its way! Good…
