I have a coworker who has a variant of this - during meetings she'll repeat a point other people is making, word for FREAKING word, about 3 syllables behind them and then, AND THEN, try to "race" them to the finish.

Here in Canada, the hardware chain "Canadian Tire" issues a small credit to people who pay cash in the form of these babies - Canadian Tire money. This. OH, THIS. Somewhere in time, we developed the "if it's written down, it's finished" culture. Over and over I'm given documents that are just miserable reads because the author has tried to keep it all in his/her head and "release" it onto the page.

It's possible she wanted a more traditional engagement & wedding ring combo. If that were the case, & I were him, I'd have fashioned a very thin, highly polished version of this one she could wear between the engagement and wedding rings.
