Everyone experiences this - "I'd have done it differently" because the piece didn't work for you. But... it doesn't have to work for everyone because it's be a really freaking boring world if we all agreed. We share experience through these discussions. Imagine a world like this:

In a sense they do - I consulted with a place where your security badge (the one that let you scan yourself into the office) had to be inserted into a USB device on your workstation before you could unlock the screen.

Wow, I can finally retire this guy!

Thank you, thank you, ladies and gentlemen we're here all week, the 11pm show gets a little blue and don't forget to tip your server!

Hmm, approaching zombie-pocalypse.... I'll take 3 please!

I know what you mean - you can only watch Spice World so often.

So say we all.

That safety pin trick might work well for someone with arthritis in their fingers.

I'm prepared to hate her instantly. Then she'll do something wonderful that will make me cry and I'll love her forever.

Well, if he gets to the bottom of the trench and sees a big-ass swtch that says either "FWD/REV" or "ON/OFF" he'd better leave it the hell alone.

The first point is pretty obvious - the short hop + BANG! minimizes paradox creation (because the victim won't have any effect other than additional ozone depletion) 10000yrs and they might kill the MRCA or at least a subset of his/her chain and BAM, a massive change in the current timeline.

I have a soft-spot for Thunderdome. My friends took me too it for my birthday and I was completely wasted. [minor spoilers] After the explosion and bits and pieces are raining everywhere, somehow my alcohol sodden brain remembered power was gen'd from pig-poop methane and I yelled, way too loud, "Holy F*ck, Tina

I have a great deal of affection for Tim Guinee's work - it's sometimes not really spot-on but he does bring the character alive. I liked his Tomin on Stargate (he and Claudia Black work well with each other) and his role in Lost Room as " The Occupant" had just enough of the crazy.

There are times when I'm not overly comfortable with smart devices (iPhone here or my own Android) "knowing" where I am. In this case it notices you're close to a friend. What if the O/S says, "Hmm, here's an email showing he bought a TV from [place] last week and, woah, we're near a Staples. I should "suggest" he

Wow. As a Ubuntu user who worked long and hard to avoid Unity, I can honestly say I feel all your pain.

It's funny. We have a neighbor who likes to rock out ... at 3am ... on Thursdays(?) I was just this week wondering if I could come up with a device that could be plugged into my stereo, the whole thing pushed against the common wall and play back his music about .5sec behind him.

I'm gonna vote for the anti-virus s/w. The other reason it's used is to remote login into a VPN - the suppliers insist we use their VPN appliance and give you "that look" when you mention anything other than windows. Their s/w appliance of choice - the name escapes - insists the antivirus is up to date as of the day
