Woke up this morning, lost myself a head. 

Everything about his speech was suspect. He’s used the “black men are martyrs” as a shield despite the fact that he is clearly an abuser, and then he makes sure to name check all of his celebrity support, and then made sure to hold up his fatherhood as a shield. None of it felt genuine.

Honestly, I’m glad he’s out of the MCU. I don’t get what the appeal of the dude is - as an actor. He’s obviously an awful person but I can’t see why he was getting raves for his performances. Fussy, pretentious, indulgent, with zero charisma. But I seem to be in the minority. What am I missing?

To be fair, the Acolyte is an absolutely abysmal show. Being racist or a bigot is awful, but people are certainly allowed to not like a show, which many, including myself, don’t. And the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes don’t say anything about race or sexual orientation. Most of them just say the show is boring as hell…

Like fights about sports, I think it’s a mistake for transgender/gender nonconforming people to be choosing this fight. It means that, when many people are still very uncertain where they stand on gender issues, public battles are being fought on ground that is not especially favorable.

Just make the presenter start with, “Gender is a social construct, but that said, the award goes to...”
