Like PaganPoet said, the morality system is a little frustrating if you aren't going pure Paragon or pure Renegade. There's a few glitches you could take advantage of to pad your morality points in either direction, though.
Am downloading the full version from the eShop now, and it's taking far too long! I think the friend bonuses are an extra worker in your village, and some kind of in-battle "summon", but I'm not 100% sure how that works :/

You realize the original poster was looking for something safe and age-appropriate to read with a nine-year-old, right? No need to jump on my suggestion just because you don't like it.
Nova is a fun, light read, that's fairly self-contained. The art in it is beautiful, too.
How is the voice acting? One of my bigger problems with Skyrim was the incredibly small voice cast. I looked it up once and I think there was one actor who voiced over 70 characters.
