I’m pretty sure gradual loading is useful for tow straps and winches. For snatch straps specifically, the sudden loading is what gets the vehicle unstuck.

You don’t even need that! If you have a hitch, take just the pin, insert the strap into the receiver and put the pin through the receiver/strap loop. There is no reason to ever put a strap over a hitch ball.
