Right? Koons is immensely successful, both financially and conceptually. He accomplishes exactly what he sets out to.

Ummm maybe he’s grown up since then? Yikes haha. I just saw him a couple of months ago and he came across as pretty down to earth to me. Which was surprising since everyone I know hates him.

That metaphor makes Koons’ work sound a lot more interesting.

Most people manage to understand Andy Warhol; understanding the absolute vitriol directed at Koons just escapes me.

All art is derivative, so yes. There’s a lot of grey area in deciding what an appropriate level of appropriation is.
