that’s not true, checking your own credit never will impact your score. A lender checking your credit for a loan application does, but it’s a small hit. A lender checking it for preapproval for marketing to you is considered a soft inquiry, and will not impact your score.

I dont know how you can say one will will pay off debt faster, if it’s growing faster (that’s what higher interest debt is doing). so the only reason to pay higher interest debt later, would be because it motivates you when you see some of them being knocked out of the way regardless of what it’s interest rate is.

I disagree Eric, this may be a personal thing, but the math supports paying higher interest first, all other things being equal. Now it may give one a sense of accomplishment paying off smaller debts quickly. Ultimately, it’s a personal choice, what motivates you, saving money vs a sense of accomplishment.
