I came in to say that at least GM in the late 70s-early 80s designed it to get out of the warranty period before the bumpers fell off.

Clearly he is related to ex-Ford guy Raj Nair and this is a deliberate setup, a stunt to make Tesla look bad (Short sellers and all that) and to get on Ford’s good side at the same time, helping  people gravitate towards Ford’s electric vehicles instead. Don’t ask me how, it all checks out. I know it for a fact.
