Yeah, imagine being frustrated by the lack of opportunities in a labor situation because of nepotism in employment!

True, but I don’t think you realize just how hard “getting the interview” is for a random actor.

But getting the interview is most of the game in Hollywood. And if getting the interview isn’t a big deal, then the nepo babies should do just fine without their parent pulling strings to get them auditions.

This ignores everything outside of the interview itself, which is frequently a sticking point for me in these conversations. IGNORE the “last name got me an audition” talking point. You still get to live in the town where the industry exists. You still have a place to crash just about everywhere you go. You don’t have

Who can forget the enormous power Rosemary Clooney wielded in 1980's Hollywood when George Clooney got his start? Studio executives cowered in fear that she might sic Danny Kaye on them.

Spider-Man 2 isn’t even the best Spider-Man movie, let alone best superhero sequel, let alone best superhero movie

As much as Raimi wanted to include Sandman, there’s just no place for his character in the final story. If the movie were just about Harry and Peter’s friendship, with Eddie as the dark Peter, it works really well - something The Dark Knight sort of did (much better) with Bruce/Harvey. There really isn’t any place for

I wonder, could they not get Defoe back? It seems to me he’d make a lot more sense for that kinda thing than his butler.

There will never be a supervillain origin to match Ock’s tentacles wiping out the surgical team.

I didn’t watch Supernatural or Walker. I might have given Supernatural a chance if I had started watching it early enough and everything branded “Walker” is tainted by thoughts of Chuck Norris in my mind.

Supposedly, the original script made clear that Harry subconsciously knew the truth all along, and the butler’s explanation was just in his head as he finally admits it to himself. But then they managed to remove every single reference to this so it just comes across as the real guy.

Schnitzel, who plays Frodo, deserves all the cat acting awards for being so chill!

Plus there are scenes like his dancing around with a bad haircut where you’re just like “why did nobody stop this from making the final cut?” It’s baffling.

I’ll add, amnesia plots are invariably ridiculous and terrible. Spider-Man 2 set up a potentially compelling conflict between Peter and Harry, but then used the most contrived plot device possible to sideline it for half the movie. I remember just how disappointed 17yo me was in the theatre when I realized.

Nearly

4 seasons of a reboot show, no less.

you don’t really want to bring up whiteboards when you talk about these movies

I got a Community notification for this?

Raimi wanted Sandman, the studio insisted on Venom.

The main problem is that Raimi didn’t even want to include Venom in the movie, but Sony did.

in hindsight the dancing is the best part of that movie.
