Thank you for this. Deciding to ‘break up’ with my mom was the hardest, best decision I’ve ever had to make, and it’s one that’s not often understood. If anyone else is in a similar boat and needs some encouragement, I suggest you check out the comments on this article from a few months back:

My dad died 5 years ago (I was 20) and my entire relationship with his death for the past few years can be pretty much covered by “But sometimes I just find myself crying”. It’s amazing how time does make some parts of it better, but at the same time the slightest hiccup in your life can expose a vulnerability you

Boxed mixes in the US generally call for oil (probably to make the process faster/easier) but most of the scratch recipes that I’ve used or perused call for butter.

Look, I will concede that y'all might have a point about Pinkham because he can sometimes be glib/borderline offensive. I hadn't personally found any of his posts to be offensive, but when I read some of the compiled stuff I could sort of see where the criticism was coming from.

That being said: Is this really the hill

So is this just me or was anyone else soooo confused by the British spelling of ‘Supercentre’ on the Walmart sign?

Late night confusion/poor reading comprehension made me think this took place in England, which didn’t make a lot of sense because aren’t they’re generally much more chill about abortion? When I realized

Sorry to be 'that med student' but this article mentions that she had an oophorectomy . While this is technically true (because she did have her ovaries removed), she also had her fallopian tubes removed, so the more accurate term for the procedure would be a salpingo-oophorectomy.

I had guinea pig when I went to Peru last summer! And (at the risk of bursting your bubble) it basically just tasted like dark meat turkey - which was especially anticlimactic considering that they served it roasted whole on a stick so the presentation was pretty epic. Still, definitely worth trying once!

Yeah, moving to New York from California was a tough adjustment even when I desperately wanted to go, so I totally get why moving cross country for school is not everyone's cup of tea. . But to add to the Scripps love, two of my med school classmates went there and loved it so definitely keep it on the list!

Don't count out women's colleges for STEM! I'm a recent Barnard grad (and current medical student) and the science departments at Barnard were all excellent! Ironically, the reason why I chose Barnard was because I wanted to go to a small, liberal arts school but was concerned about not having the opportunities to do

Just watched this WHOLE DAMN THING because I didn't realize how long it would be. But once I started I COULD NOT STOP. It was soooo good. Thanks for sharing!

I didn't think it was possible, but this made me even MORE depressed that Craig Ferguson is no longer hosting The Late Late Show.

I was a competitive swimmer for years, and when my high school PE class did a swimming unit my teacher had me work one on one with a girl who didn't know how to swim. At one point, I leant her my goggles so she could watch my stroke from underwater. I was so focused on taking long, perfect strokes that I completely

In fairness, the crux of the article is that she is the first 'black woman to win a world swimming title'. The fact that a large proportion of black Americans do not know how to swim means that few will reach elite levels of competition. And as Americans (along with other a handful of other countries who put a lot of
