Definitely. The problem isn’t pale people realizing they have issues finding makeup. They do! It took me a long time to find my correct matches and a couple times I had to special order out of different countries to nail it (those shades have since been released in the US). And if that leads them to realizing that

Yeah discussion is good but honestly I see it every single time WoC want to post about makeup and it gets exhausting. But I’m always happy when people share and learn. Just not good to make the comparison ever. To discuss options is great and learn about the reality but the comparison itself isn’t right.

I agree it’s not the same thing, but I’m OK with people bringing it up because that’s how they can learn why it’s not the same. This comment and it’s replies are good examples.

I just want to nip something in the bud. THE PROBLEM WOC FACE REGARDING MAKEUP IS DIFFERENT THAN THE PROBLEM FACING PALE PEOPLE. PLEASE DO NOT COMPARE BEING EXTRA PALE TO BEING BLACK/A POC.

It’s not OK just because it’s a fetish LMAO. It’s still a fucking awful misogynistic POV

For the most part religion=patriarchy.

I always think that guys who want a virgin (particularly an older virgin who is searching the world over for the right guy and supposedly getting anxious and desperate in the process) want such a thing because they can basically mold her into the lover they want, and whatever weird/painful/inappropriate/disrespectful

I like that you think that (a) and (b) are separate options. :\

Putting aside all the history and baggage that comes with how we view virginity, let’s break this down.

Haha too true. I was trying to keep it civil, but a big part of me was thinking, “I don’t give one half of a shit about your disappointment. Allies who try to assert that they know the issues facing my community better than I do can go piss up a rope.”

Loudly and rudely, too. And with extra condescension (that bit about being disappointed in you ... that was something) and just oodles of marginalizing hypocrisy.

For sure. I also have to roll my eyes whenever he talks about drag as a counter-culture force. Like, yeah, I’m sure almost all drag queens exist as a force that stands outside and mocks the straight world. But not you, Ru. You work for Logo. You take that world and sand down the hard edges so you can sell it to anyone

Too right. I’m beside myself at all these comments completely missing the point and doubling down.

Yuuuup. Although, it’s usually a pretty good shorthand for knowing how someone is about trans issues-if they like Ru Paul and agree with him on that whole thing, I know I can safely ignore their opinion.

Bleh, Ru Paul.

This happens every time some gay icon puts their foot in it with the trans community. Look at Saint Ru Paul, who I am still convinced is a self-centered ass.

violence against transgender persons is terrifyingly common world-wide

Considering the ignorance displayed in the comments of the shitty Bette Middler tweet article I am in no way surprised by this. It seems there are many queer people who think being a part of the LGBTQA label makes them immune from discriminating against trans-folks. It’s seen as acceptable on both sides.
