You're right: discrimination in general needs to stop.

It's called "compassion" and "empathy":

Actually, the poor white people were treated badly, too, because their "bosses" knew they needed the work to make barely enough to feed their family. In some cases black slaves were treated better (comparatively) because the plantation owners considered them an investment, whereas poor Irish people (who where an

Okay, but even house slaves, though (debatedly) not treated as harshly, were still considered to be under their masters, and still considered to exist for nothing but to serve, and still considered to be subhuman, no matter how "kindly" they were treated. I would go as far as to say that one screw up from a house

Apparently not. Reactions like these make me feel like some people just need to bitch and not do anything to make change happen.

Maybe you should just say "Systems of White Supremacy".

Thank you! You expressed this sentiment so much better than I did.

I think the author was just trying to create a bridge. An "I haven't experienced the same hate as you but maybe we can bond on the fact that the hates we've experienced are similar" bridge. Instead of crossing it, or repairing it, that bridge was burned, and that's just silly. Whites perspective, and acknowledgement

Except the author wasn't trying to feign solidarity, the author was trying to say she/he has experienced hate too.

I think for the first time here, some white people are being lumped together and identified as something they don't identify with, and are offended by it. What is fascinating to me is how offended I was at first, as well as how offended some commenters were, despite the fact that so often minorities are assigned

Thank you for writing this. I've heard similar arguments in my life and I've always got stuck on the fact that if one is a slave, one is not considered HUMAN. Doesn't sound good for anybody.

Because I dared question your shitty standards of compassion?

My point is your here just to spread your own malaise with Feminism. And I might also add: learn what the definition of "fact" is.

Do you think you're smart or clever because of what you said? Because that is neither smart, nor clever.

Ok, did you come here to discuss, or just to yell at the mean, hairy feminists because they dare to try and equal the playing field? Dude, you're arguments are weak. You're using insults and hypotheses to try to strengthen your position (which doesn't work FYI), and you're avoiding responding to anything said to you!

No, but it takes two to make a baby, so why is the responsibility placed on one half of that equation?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say, we do need a men's rights movement, but that movement is also a part of the women's rights movement, i.e. the feminist movement. Feminists, like myself, disagree with the standards imposed on not just women, but everyone, by those who have the most economic and social capital,

Are you a Republican?

I actually prefer pictures to written/oral instructions. I'm very visual. And apparently a Satanist.*

I'm confused as to why Jezebel is posting an article of this nature. Did I not just read two other articles today about the ridiculousness of beauty standards that are being enforced (in part) by these people?
