about damn time. Talk about a ridiculously inaccessible location. Still, I do like the cafe that they're next to.

I agree. My father did not, however, enjoy this one: https://www.youtube.com/wat…
I saw it with my father, who knew nothing about the original or the storyline beforehand, and he was really taken with it. I also saw Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, My Neighbor Totoro (superior 1993 Fox dub), Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade and Metropolis with him, and he loved them all. I love my dad.
Palm Pictures distributed it in 1995, so I'm guessing they lost the theatrical rights. I adore this film and its sequel. I'll skip a cheapo digital presentation and cherish my memories of seeing them in 35mm
the guy from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones was pretty good
yep. Amazing station that flipped to Spanish language overnight. At least Loyola Marymount's student station is great when the DJ's shut up, and especially She Rocks.
the music is great, but my god can Jones be a terrible interviewer. His talks with John Cale and Kevin Bacon (!) in particular were just excruciating. Cale seemed to detest him, lol
Haskell is coming to the Metrograph's 35mm screening of EMPIRE OF THE SUN, which will also be screening at the New Beverly in L.A. later this month. Can't wait to buy the revised edition of FROM REVERENCE TO RAPE.
Dennis Potter nicknamed the tumor that killed him "Rupert"
I'd rather see their Geocities sites.
Egoyan's a great guy, but I think he basically lost his creative juices after the 90's. FAMILY VIEWING in particular is a masterpiece, and it's incredible how he weaved cultural diaspora, the Armenian genocide and homemade pornography into a comedy about dysfunctional relationships.
christ, I'm sick of Neil Patrick Harris
Nick Kroll IS Gunter
that's some sub-Devin Faraci, stereotype-reliant bullshit right there
His primary contributions to film were as a conceptual artist and production designer, not an animator. His previsualization work on films like THE WILD BUNCH are astonishing, and his personal landscape works are incredible to behold.
Don't lump HUSTLER in with Trump. Larry Flynt is extremely politically progressive, and one of the platforms he ran on as a California gubernatorial candidate in '84 was quadrupling the cigarette tax (he doesn't allow any of his publications to take advertising money from liquor or cigarette companies).
to be fair, NBC gave him publicity at every opportunity, too. I wake up every goddamn morning to my partner watching TODAY, and I get apoplectic because Trump is, without fail, the first item they're discussing.
fuck the lowest common denominator idiots who watch CBS and elect people like Donald Trump
The Plague Dogs, The Girl on a Swing, Shardik and Maia are all magnificent books. A towering figure in contemporary English literature
