I quite liked him in SLEEPY HOLLOW, which is a pretty underrated film on the whole

He wasn't in MARS ATTACKS! (probably his last truly great film), the feature-length FRANKENWEENIE, or BIG FISH
Well, his books remain in print and there was a significant new biography of the man that came out a few years ago. He still has a significant following in the English-language literary world, but I agree that he's no longer de rigeur at universities
So, who else is reading the Grant Morrison-overseen HEAVY METAL? I like it, but it's not quite the return to the magazine's glory days that it was hyped as being.
Fifth Business is still required reading in many Canadian schools, along with Timothy Findley's The Wars, no? His critical reputation has probably grown, although the lack of any film/television adaptations of his work hasn't done him any favours
this is too sophisticated for Patton Oswalt-I'm thinking Seth Green, Will Wheaton or Chris Hardwick
God, I love The Deptford Trilogy so much. The audiobooks are just magnificent, too
It got some extremely strong reviews to critics who were sent screeners of the entire series. It can't be as awful as How to Make it in America
would still really like to see 12 Miles of Bad Road which has a full SEASON in the can, but HBO won't air it!
"Transgender"-it's not a verb
a great collection of Zhangke's writings have just been released in North America.
Attenberg is one of my favorite films of the past decade
I remember seeing that at the Landmark's Nuart during its original release. Truly fantastic work.
Upvoted for Kate Bush, Throwing Muses, Pet Shop Boys and Cocteau Twins
Lonelady-Nerve Up
Ry Cooder-Theme from Trespass
Allan Holdsworth-Metal Fatigue
Vivaldi-Oboe Concerto in A Minor
Killing Joke-Love Like Blood
Ian Brown-F.E.A.R.
Love Battery-Out of Focus
Kate bush-Pull Out the Pin
Tangerine Dream-People in the News
What's the point? Debra Hill passed away years ago.
I'm genuinely curious-why is so little attention paid to representations of characters with disabilities in television and cinema? Also, despite Fresh Off the Boat, casting people of Asian descent seems to be completely verboten (and don't even get started on Aboriginal/native persons).
Calling Sayles a Roger Corman protege is a bit of a stretch. He did scriptwriting work on some New World Pictures features, but he didn't work directly with Corman, nor did he lobby to direct anything for him.
I can understand wanting to do anything to escape from the reality of having to work with Seth Meyers
Gibson loves William Burroughs, and I definitely think it's more of a transgressive/slipstream work than science fiction. Cornelius isn't quite as ultra-serious as Neuromancer, which may help, too.
