I would not touch a former rental Mustang for exactly that reason, especially with prices so close to new. No way, not gonna do it, wouldn’t be prudent. I assume many people did exactly what you did (drove it like you stole it), and that offsets the allegedly better maintenance rental co’s do.

I’ve been shopping for an EB mustang. There are a lot of EB CPO’s in my area (LA), and almost all of them are former rentals. There’s a fair number of V6's, but I’m seeing far more EB’s.

re: lenders refusing to accept payment - that did happen in the housing bubble, but only after the loan was already in default (“allegedly” anyway - accepted as true in a couple appellate decisions in the“wrongful foreclosure”/ “failure to reasonably refi” arena I’ve read.)
