I am a Republican who hates Trump. To be honest, I hope that you do block everything. That would make the government unable to do anything, which would be the most ideal situation (from my point of view).

Did you know that there has been a tariff on the importation of trucks like these for something like 50 years, and that is why the trucks are made in the US?

While I am not saying that I support the tariff, I believe that what you are saying is the intent. Those steel companies in the US will do what you are saying, but at the same time they increase profits by making more steel, which means more jobs for people making steel. Does this offset the problems caused by higher

In some sense, you are correct. It was a young, very liberal Jesse Jackson that first started putting the abortion issue in the context of genocide being practiced against African Americans. I don’t know why Democrats are so upset at a Republican taking this point of view from Jackson. Perhaps Dems think that their

Yes, that’s what I try to tell my wife. Why do you need all that wasted capacity, added insurance cost, and gas cost? If instead of buying an SUV, she had gotten a Honda Civic, she could have invested the difference and the savings and now she would have enough money to buy 4 Honda Civics — instead of the money to buy

Of course the other thing that nobody talks about is protectionism.  You do realize that there has been a big tariff on the importation of trucks into the US for decades, right?  That’s why Ford can’t compete with cars.  There is no tariff.

I wouldn’t call them idiots.  If they were idiots, they would be throwing that stuff in the trash.  By selling it for next to nothing, they are making sure that it goes to a good use and to somebody that will appreciate it.

Yes, that’s why it is more important to invest than it is to work. Given a choice between loosing my job  or loosing my investments, I would take loosing the job any day!

I like to buy new cars and drive them until they don’t work anymore. I just bought my 3rd new automobile last year. It should last me until retirement (unless it gets totaled). I am 51 years old now.  If it does last until retirement, then I will have spent a total of $49000 on all of my cars from when I started

Huh? I bought a Honda Civic last year and the dealer got me a 1.99% loan. I could have paid cash, but since inflation runs around 2% what was the point? Who pays 12% interest for an automobile? You could get a low rate credit card at that rate and charge the vehicle on it! At least you might get 1% cash back.

I am reminded of Andy Warhol’s famous quote, “In the future everybody will be famous for 15 minutes.” I guess some people are able to capitalize on that 15 minutes and grow it into a political empire while others are not. But is this necessarily wrong? Is it a democratization of the “fame” process? I am against this,

In the picture Hodor is holding the door closed, not open. The article says nothing about the etiquette of this very important issue. *lol*

With retorts like that (against well crafted and sincere comments above — which would be better if there were a citation so we could independently confirm authenticity of the remarks), you open yourself to criticisms that go well beyond the scope of the discussion at hand. Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

Ah, yes. More “natural” times.

Of course they won’t “let” you into their club. You have to earn your way in. In 1995 I had a net worth of less than 200K (savings, 401k plan, IRA, some other investments). Today I have 2.5M. How did I do that? I took advantage of 401k plans, bought a house (not a huge one, but one of a size that I needed) instead of

I would have thought that the drugs would have been in the Nintendo Pow(d)er Glove. . .

I don’t understand why states and cities are allowed to give tax brakes to companies. It should be made illegal at the federal level. Why are taxpayers subsidizing these businesses? After all, a tax brake is the same thing as a subsidy.

Gee, if cops are so bad, then why don’t we just not have any and save the tax dollars?

I don’t fall into this category, but out of curiosity, what if you drive an electric car?

Sounds great. The police should be able to pull over anybody for any reason (or no reason at all). That will keep people on their toes and in compliance with the law. No, I didn’t vote for Trump.
