Glad to see some appreciation of Cloak & Dagger. This was a weirdly significant movie for me as a kid.

Oh, he was excellent in Cloak and Dagger—and he ably pulled off dual roles as both the airline pilot single father of Henry Thomas’ Davy, but also fictional character Jack Flack (that Davy imagined looked like his father). The ending where his dad ends up being the hero was excellent, and really showed his range.

“You’re too young to have a uterus.”

All of the sequels are about Max showing up, getting swept into a story bigger than himself, and then leaving when it’s all over as other characters get actual conclusions. Mad Max hasn’t been about Max since the 70s, he’s just the mythical figure through which these stories about the wasteland are told.

It wasn’t the greatest movie in the world, but I loved him as imaginary spy Jack Flack with the kid from E.T. in Cloak & Dagger.

I will never forget him calling Barry Corbin a “pig-eyed sack of shit” in Wargames. RIP to a great actor.

I’m not easily shocked but watched the video and said “Oh my God” multiple times. Absolutely at Ray Rice levels. I’m glad there’s actual evidence to potentially put this guy away, after the sheer number of allegations against him which suggest he's a true scourge on the music industry.

But the timeline of this has me confused. If this takes place a decade before Fury Road, and Furiosa was a child after the apocalypse that takes place between Mad Max and the Road Warrior, how old is Tina Turner supposed to be?

Max has been a supporting character through most of the films. Mad Max 2 is more about Pappagallo survivors. Beyond Thunderdome focuses more on Aunty Entity and the tribal children. Max is just sort of there.

Welp, that (almost assuredly) wraps that up.

She must not have voted.

Regrettably, I watched the video. This guy is fucking toast.

I just rewatched Fury Road this week on a flight. Among the amazing things of what may be a perfect film is how quickly Miller establishes characters. From Max and Furriosa to the war boys and the Vulvalini, each character may only get seconds of screen time, but you quickly know who they are and can indentify each

I think the video serves as an important reminder to hesitate before doing the kind of logical nitpicking that often happens in these cases. I could certainly imagine people going, “Wait, you’re saying P Diddy managed to run down a hallway at a fancy hotel, grab a woman, and kick her twice, all while wearing a towel?

It’s truly satisfying to see someone who is such a piece of shit getting caught redhanded after so righteously claiming their innocence.

I do remember it being a real WTF moment when learning that the Happy Feet guy was also the Mad Max guy.

It’s a shame their only scene in Burn After Reading together is like 10 seconds long, if that.

I got so much joy watching Hassenger getting into it in the comments section. My favourite writers here were always the ones willing to acknowledge, and sometimes fight, the commentariat.

You got the important bits.
