Just because you CAN buy something outright, doesn’t mean you SHOULD buy it outright. All depends on the terms of the financing.

No, YOU can’t afford it. Someone else may have no problem affording that $1000+ payment and may be doing so because the interest rate was good and/or the term is short. That’s the thing about people talking about their car payment, that number is irrelevant without the rate and term. 

It boggles my mind that people would pay this much for a pickup truck, or any GMC or Chevy truck. These aren’t luxury vehicles, and not aspirational or prestige items. In a nice neighborhood, you wouldn’t even want to live next door to a neighbor with these cars. And then on top of this, to pay 14 percent interest?…

Just for the fun of it, I went on to Chevy’s configurator and selected a Tahoe with every available factory option, and it cost... $105,470. Imagine spending six figures on a Chevy Tahoe.
